03 Performance technology
How a lubricant protects
A general illustration of lubrication, not a performance claim for any one product. Select a point to highlight it.
Friction reduction A lubricant lets moving surfaces slide on a fluid layer instead of grinding against each other.
Lubricant film A thin film keeps metal parts apart under load, including at start-up.
Heat control Circulating oil carries heat away from hot components.
Deposit protection Detergent and dispersant additives help keep sludge and varnish from building up.
Wear protection Anti-wear additives protect surfaces where the film is thinnest.

04 Lubrication science
A thin film of oil keeps moving metal apart.
The right viscosity and additive package decide how well that film forms, holds and protects. That is why every International product lists its grade and classification.

05 Engine protection
Built to protect the engine
Simplified, illustrative engine motion.
Superior wear protection Engineered to protect critical engine components from wear and tear, extending engine life.
Enhanced engine cleanliness Keeps engines cleaner by preventing the formation of sludge and varnish.
High-temperature stability Maintains performance and protection in high-temperature conditions.
Low-temperature performance Ensures easy starting and efficient oil flow in cold weather.
Fuel economy benefits Optimised formulation helps improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
Turbocharger protection Provides protection for turbocharged engines, preventing deposits and wear.
Passenger cars Fully synthetic and synthetic blend engine oils for modern gasoline engines requiring API SN.
SUVs, light trucks and vans Suitable for city and highway driving, including severe conditions.
High-performance engines
Recommended for turbocharged and supercharged gasoline engines, per the product data sheets.

0W-20 API SN
First number + W Cold-start rating (W = winter). The lower the number, the better the oil flows when cold.
Second number Viscosity grade at operating temperature. A higher number means a thicker oil when hot.
API Service classification set by the American Petroleum Institute for the engine type and era.
